Fridge Magnet Grammar
Grammar is magic. Seriously!
|
The purpose of this guide is to show you some basic building bricks of grammar. It's not a complete reference to English grammar, and it avoids jargon as much as possible. It's intended as an introduction to grammar for beginners, and to get the most from it you should spend some time playing around with the many grammar exercises it contains. If you do this, you should build up a secure understanding of some of the basic principles of grammar, which will stand you in good stead in your further grammar studies. I hope you'll find the guide fun and interesting. But before we get to work, a few words about how this guide works.
- To go through the text and exercises of this site in their logical sequence, click on the
forward arrow button once you have finished with a page.
- Click on the
back arrow button if you want to turn back to a previous page.
- If you want to jump to a specific page (if you want to check up on a specific topic, for instance),
click on the Table of contents button.
- Grammatical keywords are linked to the pages where they are defined and discussed. If you follow one of these links, use the back button on your browser to return.
To start with, we're going to briefly consider what grammar actually is - so click the arrow button below.
