Myself and Other Animals
This is the first section in our major new resource, Literacy
Online. It is an introductory unit for students starting secondary
school.
Myself and Other Animals reviews a range of literacy skills
covered in previous years as well as covering that accessible topic
- writing about myself! It is also an excellent way for students
- and teachers - in a new school and with new classmates to get
to know each other.
We know that you'll want to get your hands on these resources
as soon as possible. We are therefore adding them to the site as
soon as they come in without waiting for the whole scheme - making
them available first as files to download. We shall add support
materials and additional lessons as soon as they are processed.
For further ideas on ways to stimlutate writing, do look at writing
from the inside of your own head, Pat D'Arcy's suggestions for
starter activities for writing of all kinds, whether children are
going on to write a story, to record what they have learnt in a
topic or to explore how words work. These approaches can readily
be used as starter activities in your literacy lessons.
