These are sample units from Heathfield's classroom resources for teaching years 7-9: work on novels, plays, short stories, textbooks and more. The scheme also sets out principles for planning, teaching and monitoring pupil progress.

As a sample, we offer here two substantial extracts: a unit for Year 7 (11/12 year olds) of at least five lessons on personal writing in diaries and letters, and an extensive Year 8 unit on Anne Fine's popular novel The Tulip Touch. This offers enough work for 6 to 10 weeks, covering 21 activities and 6 homework assignments - providing a wide range of stimulating material for at least 14 lessons.
