Actis Project Boxes are excellent sources for tried and tested simulations; run by just one computer with an Internet connection, they provide comprehensive support materials for before, during and after the activity. Once it is running you will find the students become engrossed in the simulation and you can use the opportunity to assess speaking and listening or to work with small groups.

Word of the Week is an excellent resource, whether you are looking for a short starter activity or a stimulus for more extensive research on language in use.

WordLab

A variety of stimulating activities which explore language in action. Source materials can vary from simple word pairs chosen to illustrate spelling patterns to complex literary texts.

WordLab activities are ideal for use in small groups, where they will stimulate animated and focussed discussion, and for whole class activities - especially if you have a digital projector and whiteboard.
