- NATE is the UK subject teacher association for all aspects of English
from pre-school to university level. NATE has a good publications
section, a network of local branches and organises courses both
for members and non-members.

- The National
Literacy Trust is an 'independent charity dedicated to building
a literate nation'. The site offers a calendar of literacy events
including, 'Annual and ongoing literacy and reading events'; 'UK
literature festivals (from the British Council website)'; 'Children's
writing competitions'; 'Research conferences and seminars' and
'International conferences and seminars'. The Trust also offers
comprehensive information on 'Publications and resources', 'Research',
and 'Literacy issues and statistics'.
